General Studies(GS) Paper-1 & Paper-2 Discussion for OAS Main Exam.


India is a union of states and union territories. So for the recruitment for Group-A & Group-B services for union Govt. , there is a commission at the union level called Union Public Service Commission[UPSC]. There are state public service commissions at the state level for the recruitment of Group-A & Group-B services for the state Govt. As far as Odisha state is concerned, there is a state public service commission called Odisha state public service commission[OPSC]  for the recruitment of Group-A & Group- B services for the Odisha state Govt. Odisha civil services Examination is one of the various examinations conducted by OPSC. Odisha Civil Services Examination is conducted for the recruitment for various posts for the state government. i.e 

  1. Odisha Administrative Service[OAS]
  2. Odisha Police Service[OPS]
  3. Odisha Financial Service[OFS]
  4. Odisha Revenue Service[ORS]
  5. Odisha Co-Operative Service[OCoS]
  6. Odisha  Taxation & Account Service[ OTAS]
Among these, the first three i.e OAS, OPS & OFS are the Group-A Services, and the rest three i.e ORS. OCoS, OTAS is the Group-B Services. Odisha Administrative service i.e OAS is the most popular and prestigious one hence Odisha Civil Services Exam is popularly known as OAS Examination.

Main Examination

Those students who are qualified in the Prelim exam are eligible to write the main exam. The main exam consists of two parts i.e written exam & the Interview.

  1. There are two GS papers i.e paper-1 & paper-2 in Main Exam.. Each paper will of 300 marks and you will be given 3 hrs to answer them.
  2. For GS papers, you read the syllabus carefully and analyze the past papers. you will come to know that each and every question are directly from the topics mentioned in the syllabus. Hence, you need to prepare notes for each and every topic mentioned in the syllabus. 
  3. Revise those notes time and again. Writing practice is very crucial and an absolute need to do well in GS papers.
  4. If you are a serious aspirant, the answer to every question is familiar to you. You know the answer to each and every question. The only challenge is to complete the paper within 3hrs duration. You can not answer all the questions if you do not have sufficient writing practice.
